Why this name? Why this image?

 

The logo represents two olive leaves and one olive because this is a region rich in oil. X-shaped because it is X for Xarês and Shale (Xisto in Portuguese) which abounds in the region.

Xarês because it's the family name- my father in law, who still lived in Alares (now in ruins) was born here at Couto dos Correias. The story goes that the War / Question of Alares created three locations: Cegonhas, Couto dos Correias and Soalheiras. A great-grandmother of my husband, Joana Xarês and her brother Manuel Correia moved to these lands, each with five children, and thats how Couto dos Correias was born.
